Fancy a tale of sex, revenge and death?

Dangerous Liaisons - Mappa Mundi

Then take a trip back in time to Blackwood Miners’ Institute this month to see Dangerous Liaisons, a new stage production by one of Wales’ most dynamic and popular theatre companies, Mappa Mundi.

Adapted from the original 18th-century French novel, it is a story of lust, greed, deception and romance and stars Keiron Self from BBC series High Hopes and My Family. The show will be visiting Blackwood on Tuesday, April 27. The production will be a lavish portrayal of wickedness and betrayal, with some innuendo thrown in for good measure.

But this isn’t the first time it has been successfully adapted for stage and screen. Film fanatics will recall the 1988 movie starring Glenn Close, John Malkovich, Keanu Reeves and Michelle Pfeiffer. Then there was the 1999 version Cruel Intentions, featuring Sarah Michelle Geller and Ryan Phillippe.

This new endeavour is said to be a treat for the senses as Mappi Mundi recreates the spectacle and squalor of aristocratic French society.

The performance will not include any bad language or nudity, but there will be scenes containing sexual references that are only suitable for audiences over the age of 16.

Standard tickets cost £9.
