Owen Money

Never, in his 50 year career, could comedian Owen Money find it more difficult to crack a mother-in-law joke.

Because the BBC radio host and clubland stalwart will be performing to 500 women later this month when he is the guest speaker at this year’s Women in Wales Luncheon during Save the Children’s National Appeal Week.

This year will be the 18th anniversary of the event, attended by nearly 500 ladies every year, and it will again include the popular auction lead by TV presenter Hywel James; a fashion show organised by Cowbridge fashion retailers featuring the latest designs from award-winning milliner Alison Tod and a raffle with some fantastic prizes.

The 2010 guest speaker will be Owen Money who has performed alongside Tom Jones and Shirley Bassey and draws in listeners every week to his popular Radio Wales programme Money For Nothing.

Owen said:“I try to help out with charities as much as I can and feel honoured to speak at Save the Children’s Women in Wales’ luncheon this year. I’m looking forward to entertaining a room full of ladies and I promise to be very gentle with them.”

Tickets are still available for the Women in Wales Lunch held at Cardiff City Hall on Friday, April 30.
